Cosmology
by Martijn de Vries
The universe as we know it was created by the Big Bang, and has been expanding continuously for billions of years. What does the universe look like today? What is it made of? What will it look like in the future? And how is it even possible to figure out answers to these kind of questions?
Martijn will discuss some of the most famous cosmological observations of the last 100 years, starting with Edwin Hubble’s observations in the 1920's, which show that the universe is expanding, to modern-day cosmological surveys that reveal the structure of our universe on the largest scales.
