Following her work with Dean Blunt and Hype Williams, Inga Copeland has put out several solo releases. Producing by herself and with several collaborators including Scratcha DVA, John T. Gast, Martyn and Actress, her self-released records have seen her build on the initial foundations of the lo-fi and discordant qualities of her earliest works. Last year’s EP “RELAXIN’ with Lolina”, the first offering under Lolina moniker, proposed further developments to the previous work with digital production, minimalist composition and repetitive vocal arrangements. Lolina’s follow-up album “Live in Paris”, which is Inga Copeland’s second solo full-length, continues this attempt to discover possibilities for experimentation within the adopted limitations of electronic music.
Drawing on a wide array of influences, Acolytes probe a wide variety of forms both past and present to concoct a blurred mindspace. Essentially, sample based computer music, rhythms and textures are the basis for compositions which co-exist concurrently as larger malleable forms twist and re-arrange themselves into skewed aberrant pop music. The works of Acolytes spiral around their own schizophrenic logic creating a haze of suggested melody and an ebbing system of deferrals. After well received mixes on NTS and Blowing Up the Workshop, he is following up live dates with Helm and Drew McDowall with a European tour with Inga Copeland (Lolina).
This concert is a collaboration with The Rest is Noise; a label of progressive muziek connected to het Muziekgebouw.
