I always enjoy readingĀ the "Making of a Lineup" articles and the DS blog in general. I think it's very nice to share some of the ideas behind the creation of a program. For me, this is the true nature of curation: To always have an open ear for interesting suggestions, to find a balance between all the different personal tastes and still manage to align them to a common thread that makes the result "typical" for your place.

Four years ago, Nachtdigital was invited to co-host the very first weekender at De School. It turned out to be one of the best events we ever were involved in. Every year since this June weekender has been sort of the unofficial pre-party to our festival. When we started to work on this year's weekender it wasn't even clear yet that this summer will see the last edition of our beloved festival. What a bittersweet feeling!

Working on these weekenders together with Luc has always been quite easy: our expertise combines in a very natural way and we easily find common ground when it comes to international artists. We've known each other for many years, and Luc has been to Nachtdigital many times. It's wonderful to be given so much trust when it comes to bringing the "Nachti vibes" to Amsterdam.

Here is a quick rundown of what we came up with this time:

Saturday night features two artists who played standout sets at last year's Nachtdigital: Mozhgan left everyone with jaws dropped thanks to her wild selection full of strange beauty (which can be revisited here) while Courtesy played a killer sunrise set peppered with mostly forgotten Trance jams. Both are favourites at De School as well, I've heard - no wonder why. Trance is something Job has been enjoying *a lot* lately as well, so this sounds like a perfect match. Spicing things up in between will be Credit 00 with a live set: A longtime Nachtdigital friend and sort of a regular on our lineups. His raw, bouncy energy should go quite well after Mozhgan's opening.

Ateq will heat up the Muzieklokaal with a long set when we move upstairs for daytime. He might be known for playing mostly Techno but as many others of the Giegling crew, he also has a weak spot for hypnotic House and Minimal. Following up will be local hero/DS resident Oceanic and Leipzig hero/ND resident Sevensol. For most Nachti events, the latter usually appears with his DJ-partner Map.ache as Manamana. This time, we decided to let them shine solo - Sevensol will be DJing (another highlight from last year's festival) and Map.ache plays live afterward (always a highlight). If you haven't heard it yet: Mapi released one ofmy favoriteĀ albums of 2018. Closing the Muzieklokaal will be Paquita Gordon who took our hearts by storm when she gave her Nachti debut last summer.

The Ambient stage at Nachtdigital has become a true landmark - by now, it is referred to as the "secret mainstage" of Olganitz. After three weekenders at DS, De Tuin feels like a second home for our Ambient vibes and we happily return with a handful of chill experts for the Sunday. More on that later.

After sunset, we return to the underground and shift up the gears for the second night: DS resident Sandrien has been a Nachti favourite for many years and the basement feels like the perfect place for her powerful energy. Closing things out deep down will be a rare appearance of Morskie Oko - the project I run with Chino and Olivia from Krakow. It's sort of a b2b2b combining decks and machines for something wild, raw and unpredictable. Olivia played our weekender last year and I was super happy to see how well her sound fit this space that I've come to love so much: Out of all the clubs I've played in the last 20 years, the basement of De School easily is my absolute favourite. Now I can't wait to share this experience with Chino as well.

Tickets for Het Weekend are now available here. Tickets for the final Nachtidigital are also still available here.
