Last week we didn't only celebrate the beginning of the new year – we also celebrated De School's second birthday. A few weeks before, we've re-opened Café DS in its newest form after updating the café with new light installations, new funiture, new beers, new wines, and a new lunch and snack menus. The only thing that took us a little longer to develop was the dinner menu, but it was worth the wait.
We'd like you to get familiar with De Weekhap, a vegetarian dish we offer for only €10, that changes weekly. To keep things going, and to keep on adapting the menu to the time of the season – our dinner chef Jim will change the menu every week. You can find out what's for dinner on our website
, on Instagram
, and in the café itself, of course.
Please note: the menu changes every Thursday. On Sunday and Monday, the café's dinner kitchen is closed. Ask the staff for the best matching drink – they are more than happy to present you exactly the right beverage to wash De Weekhap down.
In the first few weeks, our schedule for De Weekhap will look like this:Week 1 – until January 10: French-Algerian Loubia
White bean with tomatoes, coriander, cellery and lemon.
Wine suggestion: German red Spätburgunder. Grape is Domina blend, fresh, light and juicy.Week 2 – until January 17: Dutch Andijvie Stamppot
Traditional Dutch mashed potatoes with endive.Week 3 – until January 24: Vegetarian Paella
Spanish paëlla with loads of fresh seasonal vegetables.Week 4 – until January 31: Dutch Hutspot
Instead of the usual potatoes, we'll have parsnip to mash with the carrots.
